“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.” – John W. Gardner.
Class 2 and drawing in pen. This was on day 4 of Inktober 2016 and theme was ‘hungry.’ When you’re hungry, something’s missing and your focus changes. Here, without an eraser in sight, so did theirs. Focus got laser. At this point, in that still, focused space, they were alert. Each going through their own things. So much love for them. All superstars.
Tuesday means I get to see these faces! The Afrika Rose Family 2016 are on one big adventure and can’t wait to see what happens in our next class!

Here we are for class 3 – the Afrika Rose Family 2016, diving into light, shadow and why we need both. We explored this with colour, through an exercise my art teacher showed me at school. At that time in my life, there were many things happening that I couldn’t control.
I couldn’t say how I felt and so art class, and the opportunity to express feelings without words, helped. It was the beginning of my understanding of light and shadow and when I discovered the artist Caravaggio. Master of chiaroscuro – light and dark.
The beginning of an ongoing process in understanding the light and dark of the human experience and our shared human nature. And how the shadows shift and change, depending on where you are: on the ground, on the page or in your story. Love these people. So hugely proud of them. For all that’s happening. Both on and off the page. Happy Friday all.
Big love, Ever draws,
