The Power Of The Mural
Reflecting on what I’m seeing in the news, I’ve been thinking about the collaborative murals we’ve created over the years. These have arguably been the most meaningful pieces, because they involved many different hands, hearts and minds coming together.
I emphasise DIFFERENT here.
These large-scale, ambitious, energetic, emotional, varied, vibrant, collaborative murals – each supporting a different cause – brought together members of each community, unifying their unique mark making into masterpieces bringing energy, dynamism and inspiration to blank spaces.
They champion hope and form an eclectic testament to what it means to work together.
I found an article by the Royal Drawing School embracing this idea too (read below).
Are there places in your community that look unloved?
What would that corner of the world look like with a bit of light, love, community, colour and…
A new mural that you made together?
Get in touch with your ideas and let’s get make something happen!!

Happy to report that our new recruits (about to turn 2 and 4) are full of beans and running rings around Mummy and Daddy.
We’re weathering the whirlwind as best we can and it really does take a village!
Interview on Sorcha Chisholm’s Witch Way Spellcast podcast here

Art For Hope
John Berger, Ways Of Seeing | Watch the 4 part BBC series here
The relation between what we see and what we know is never settled. Each evening we see the sun set. We know that the earth is turning away from it. Yet the knowledge, the explanation, never quite fits the sight. – John Berger
One of my all time favourite art programmes and it’s about to turn 50!!
